Expedition Overview

Spantik (7,027m), famously known as Golden Peak because its south-facing golden marble wall glows brilliantly when viewed from the Hunza Valley, is situated in the Spantik-Sosbun mountain range in Gilgit-Baltistan. It is globally acclaimed as the most attainable and enjoyable 7,000m mountaineering objective in the Karakoram.

Approached from the village of Arandu at the head of the Shigar Valley, the scenic trek winds along the pristine Chogo Lungma Glacier, far removed from crowded trails. The standard Southeast Ridge (first climbed on July 5, 1955, by a German expedition led by Karl Kramer) features a long, aesthetic snow and ice ridge with relatively mild technical difficulty, low objective avalanche hazard, and breathtaking 360-degree summit views extending to K2, Broad Peak, Nanga Parbat, Rakaposhi, and Diran Peak.

Hunza Adventure Tours organizes full-service base camp logistics for climbing teams and solo alpinists. Our native mountain guides, high-altitude sirdars, certified cooks, and porter teams ensure a safe, organized, and unforgettable expedition to the top of the Golden Peak.
